Parish Background
St. Aidan's began in 1997 as a diverse collection of individuals scattered throughout the East and West Kootenays region of British Columbia, meeting occasionally when a priest was available. From 2003 to 2005, the community was served monthly by Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. Since 2005, Fr. Larry Reinheimer and Fr. Richard Rene have been serving the community monthly. In 2006, the community chose its heavenly intercessor, making it the second St. Aidan Orthodox Church in the world (the first is in England). In 2007, the community decided to hold weekly typika services, and as of May 2008, Fr. Richard Rene has been appointed as the full-time priest of the mission.
