The Commission on Canons and Statutes is responsible for researching and offering proposals to the Holy Synod of Bishops on canonical questions affecting contemporary Church life in North America.

Proposed changes to the Statute of The Orthodox Church in America are also referred to the Commission for evaluation, recommended action and, when appropriate, presented to the All-American Council and the Holy Synod of Bishops.
