Results of “Census of Orthodox Christian Churches in the USA” released

NEW YORK, NY—Results of the 2010 “Census of Orthodox Christian Churches in the USA,” conducted by Alexei D. Krindatch, research consultant to the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas here, were released during the first week of October 2010.

The study—the complete text is available in PDF format and may be downloaded at www.orthodoxreality.org—was undertaken as a part of the national “Religious Congregations and Membership Study 2010.” [See www.rcms2010.org.] It provides information on parishes, monastic communities, Church members, and regular attendees in various Amerian Orthodox Christian Churches. It also makes data available for each local Orthodox parish, each national Orthodox Church, and each geographic area of the US.

Data used in the study was received directly from local Orthodox parishes rather than national Church headquarters or dioceses.
