Metropolitan Jonah receives honorary doctorate

NASHOTAH, WI [OCA]—One hundred and five years after Saint Tikhon of Moscow, during his tenure as bishop and archbishop of North America, received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Nashotah House Seminary here, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, was accorded the same honor during the school’s fall Convocation on October 27, 2010.

Archpriest Chad Hatfield, a Nashotah House graduate and Chancellor of Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, Crestwood, NY, delivered the convocation address.

Nashotah House and Saint Vladimir’s Seminary signed a Concordat in the fall of 2009, pledging themselves to mutual prayer, fellowship and cooperation. Both seminaries have been working in recent years to revive the work of the Fellowship of Saints Alban and Sergius in North America.

Metropolitan Jonah was cited for his commitment to the revival of Orthodox/Anglican relations.
