Episcopal Assembly announces committee membership

During the second week of February 2011, membership of the thirteen committees established by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America was finalized.

“These members, under the coordination of their chairmen, will initially be responsible for addressing the tasks listed under the committee description,” reads a release posted on the Assembly web site. “It is hoped that each committee will be able to meet at least once in advance of the forthcoming meeting of all the bishops in May.”

As noted on the Assembly web site, the hierarchs of the Orthodox Church in America have been named to serve on various committees: His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah [Committee for Canonical Regional Planning]; His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate [Committee for Clergy Affairs]; His Grace, Bishop Nikon of Boston and New England and the Albanian Archdiocese [Committee for Military Chaplaincy]; His Grace, Bishop Tikhon of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania [Committee for Monastic Communities]; His Grace, Bishop Benjamin of San Francisco and the West [Committee for Liturgy]; His Grace, Bishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania [Committee for Ecumenical Relations]; His Grace, Bishop Michael of New York and New Jersey [Committee for Theological Education]; His Grace, Bishop Irineu of Dearborn Heights [Committee for Youth]; and His Grace, Bishop Mark of Baltimore [Committee for Pastoral Practice].
