Sunday of the Fourth Week of Great Lent: St. John of the Ladder

Great Vespers at Vigil

Blessed is the Man: the whole kathisma.

Lord, I Call:* 7 resurrection + 3 triodion (for St. John); glory: triodion; now, theotokion - the dogmatikon in the tone of the week.

Entrance, prokeimenon of the day. Litany: Let us say… etc. Vouchsafe. Let us complete our evening…

Litya: as usual.

Aposticha: resurrection, with their verses; glory: triodion, Tone 2; now: resurrectional aposticha theotokion in the same tone.

Troparia: Rejoice (3x)
(If vigil is not served: resurrection; glory: saint, Tone 1; now: resurrectional theotokion in the same tone.)

*The typicon and triodion prescribe 7 resurrection + 3 menaion (for whatever saint is celebrated that day), and then mention the 3 from the triodion for St. John as additional hymns; however, this appears to be a relic of earlier practices, since in contemporary use those for St. John are generally used and those from the menaion omitted.
