On Saturday, January 26, 2013, His Eminence, Metropolitan Anthony was enthroned as Prime Hierarch of the Ukrianian Orthodox Church of the USA [Ecumenical Patriarchate] during the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at Saint Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Silver Spring, MD.
Representing the Orthodox Church in America were His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate, who on behalf of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon and the OCA presented a reliquary containing relics of Saint Anthony the Great and the Great Martyr Barbara to Metropolitan Anthony; His Grace, Bishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania; His Grace, Bishop Michael of New York and New York and New Jersey; and His Grace, Bishop Irenee of Quebec City. Also present were Archpriest John Jillions, OCA Chancellor, and Archpriest Leonid Kishkovsky, OCA Director of External Affairs and Interchurch Relations. Also present for the celebration of the Vigil on Friday evening, January 25, were Archimandrite Alexander [Pihach] and Protodeacon Nazari Polataiko.
