ATS Site Evaluation Team visits St. Tikhon’s Seminary
A Site Evaluation Team from the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada [ATS] concluded a visit to Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary here on November 16, 2009.
ATS is a membership organization of more than 250 graduate schools that conduct post-baccalaureate professional and academic degree programs to educate persons for the practice of ministry and for teaching and research in the theological disciplines. The Commission on Accrediting of ATS accredits the schools and approves the degree programs they offer.
Members of the Site Evalusation Team shared their perspectives on both the strengths and weaknesses of the seminary, gleaned from a self-study report and their cordial and frank discussions with the various seminary constituencies. Team members also shared their findings and recommendations to the ATS Board of Commissioners with the alumni, staff, faculty, administration and trustees who were present. It is expected that the Board of Commissioners will issue its report in February 2010.
