Bishop-elect Michael tonsured to Lesser Schema

Archpriest Michael [Dahulich], Bishop-elect of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey of the Orthodox Church in America, was tonsured to the Lesser Schema at Saint Tikhon’s Monastery here on Great and Holy Tuesday, March 30, 2010.

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah presided at the tonsuring in the presence of the monastic brotherhood and students of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary, of which Archimandrite Michael has served as dean for several years.

The following day, Father Michael was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite in anticipation of his consecration to the episcopacy on the second weekend of May.

Great Vespers and Archimandrite Michael’s Nomination will be celebrated at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Jersey City, NJ, on Friday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m., with the consecration Divine Liturgy to be celebrated on Saturday, May 8 at 9:00 a.m.

On Sunday, Bishop Michael will celebrate the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral, New York, NY at 9:30 a.m.
