Diaconal Practicum to be held in Portland area October 8-10, 2010

MILWAUKIE, OR [OCA]—With the blessing of His Grace, Bishop Benjamin of San Francisco, the Diocese of the West will host a practicum for deacons and those studying for future service as deacons October 8-10, 2010 at the Church of Annunciation here.

OCA Army Chaplain promoted to the rank of ColonelArchdeacon Kirill Sokolov, coordinator of the Diaconal Vocations Program of the Orthodox Church in America, will lead the program. He will offer practical liturgical training, with special attention given to the liturgical patterns of movement that inform the entire rite of the Church. The Divine Liturgy and other services will be celebrated during the practicum.

“We’re looking forward to hosting deacons and diaconal candidates at our parish,” said Archpriest Matthew Tate, rector of the Church of the Annunciation. “This is a blessed opportunity for us to pray and serve together.”

Participation is limited to maximize personal instruction and interaction. The all-inclusive $150.00 registration fee includes all meals.
