Metropolitan Herman to celebrate memorial service for Metropolitan Laurus at Holy Trinity Monastery, Jordanville, NY
On Thursday, March 20, at 2:30 p.m., His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman will celebrate a memorial service for His Eminence, Metropolitan Laurus, newly-reposed First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, at Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY. OCA clergy who are able to attend are encouraged to join His Beatitude for the service.
In his letter of condolence to the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia Metropolitan Herman said that, “the death of Metropolitan Laurus is a great loss for all of us. He labored diligently for long decades - first as a monastic and then as a hierarch… At every stage of his ministry, he maintained monastic humility, simplicity, and joy.”
Funeral services for His Eminence, Metropolitan Laurus are scheduled for Thursday evening, March 20, with Great Compline at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Memorial Litiya, and Friday morning, March 21, beginning with the Divine Liturgy of Presanctified Gifts at 8:00 a.m.
