Metropolitan Jonah presides at veneration of Kursk-Root Icon in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL [OCA]—On Wednesday, December 1, 2010, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, Locum Tenens of the Diocese of the Midwest, presided at the celebration of the Akathistos Hymn in the presence of the wonderworking Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God at Christ the Savior Church here.

Joining Metropolitan Jonah, area clergy, and faithful was His Grace, Bishop Peter of Cleveland of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, who brought the Kursk-Root Icon to the parish as part of a series of visits the icon is making to Orthodox churches in the Midwest.

Metropolitan Jonah was in Chicago for meetings of the Midwest Diocese’s Bishop’s and Diocesan Councils December 2-3.
