“Mysteries of the Jesus Prayer” airing on public TV this week

An abbreviated public TV version of the documentary feature film, “Mysteries of the Jesus Prayer,” is airing on over 218 PBS TV stations this week, in conjunction with the celebration of Pascha.

The recently produced film focuses on the meaning of prayer with an inside view of Orthodox monasticism. It follows the V. Rev. Dr. John McGuckin, an Orthodox priest, and Dr. Norris Chumley as they explore monastic practices of the early Church that have endured for centuries, especially the Jesus Prayer. This “travelogue of the mind and soul” carries them from Egypt to Greece, Romania, Ukraine, and Russia.
