OCA Archivist to offer presentations marking 40th anniversary of the OCA’s Autocephaly

Mr. Alexis Liberovsky, Archivist of the Orthodox Church in America, will offer a series of lecture and media presentations on the history of the Church in America in several west coast parishes August 15 through 24, 2010.

The presentations, which mark the 40th Anniversary of the OCA’s Autocephaly, will highlight the key people, events, and documents that have shaped the OCA’s life from the Alaskan mission in 1794, through the granting of autocephaly in 1970, and to the gathering of the North American Episcopal Assembly in May 2010.

Mr. Liberovsky’s schedule is as follows.

  • Tuesday, August 17, 7:00 p.m.—Annunciation Church, Santa Maria, CA.
  • Thursday, August 19, 7:30 p.m.—Saint Christina of Tyre Mission, Fremont, CA.
  • Friday, August 20, 7:00 p.m.—Saint Seraphim/Protection Parish, Santa Rosa, CA.
  • Sunday, August 22, 12:30 p.m.—Holy Trinity Cathedral, San Francisco, CA.
  • Tuesday, August 24, 7:00 p.m.—Saint John of Damascus Church, Poway, CA.
