Preconciliar Commission discusses All-American Council agenda during teleconference

In a teleconference meeting held on Thursday, September 18, 2008, the Preconciliar Commission discussed the agenda for the upcoming 15th All-American Council.

“A draft agenda had been sent to the Holy Synod and Metropolitan Council late last week for review and approval,” according to Archpriest Andrew Jarmus, OCA Director of Ministries and Communications. “Based on feedback, the Preconciliar Commission decided to continue working on the agenda, even though this means exceeding the minimum 60 day requirement for publishing an AAC agenda as outlined in the OCA Statutes.”

“With the announcement last week that there will be an election for Metropolitan at the upcoming Council, the Preconciliar Commission was faced with the task of working this procedure into an already tight program,” said OCA Secretary, Archpriest Eric G. Tosi. “Our biggest challenge is that the site and dates for the Council were not selected with a primatial election in mind. We are trying to be sensitive to the input of participants of the Town Hall Meetings this past summer regarding the AAC, as well as the requirements of the OCA Statute and not-for-profit law concerning items that must be on the agenda.”

During the teleconference, the Preconciliar Commission also discussed preliminary draft reports on the Town Hall Meeting series and on the work of the Special Investigating Committee to be presented at the All-American Council. Material related to these reports will be posted on the OCA.org web site before the Council.

The Commission anticipates having an agenda ready for publication shortly.
