Reservations open for October 30 luncheon honoring new Dean of St. Tikhon’s Seminary

Reservations are now being accepted for the luncheon slated to follow the official installation of Archpriest Alexander Atty as Dean and Chief Operating Officer of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary here on Saturday, October 30, 2010.

The Installation Service of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA. The luncheon will follow at noon.

As reported on the OCA web site in August 2010, Father Alexander brings with him over 30 years of experience as a parish priest and chief administrator. He served as pastor of one of the nation’s largest pan-Orthodox parishes, Saint Michael the Archangel Antiochian Orthodox Church, Louisville, KY, prior to his appointment. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Philadelphia, a Master of Divinity from Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, and a Doctorate in Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

Father Alexander, who is joined at the seminary by his wife, Khouria Olga, and their two children, Katherine and Alexander, assumed duties on July 1, 2010.

In related news, the seminary’s 21st annual Founders Day will be celebrated on Saturday, October 9, 2010.

The day will open with the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery Church at 9:00 a.m. The annual Founders Day Dinner will follow in the seminary auditorium/gym at noon.
