Seminary deans, chancellor to speak on first weekend of Great Lent

Archpriest Alexander Atty, Dean of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary, South Canaan, PA, will be the guest speaker at a retreat at Saint Andrew Antiochian Orthodox Church here Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13, 2011.

Concurrently, Archpriest John Behr, Dean of Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Crestwood, NY, will be in the Chicago area March 12-15.

On Saturday evening, Father John will offer a presentation on the meaning of icons after the 7:00 p.m. Vigil at Saint Joseph Church, Wheaton, IL. The public is invited to attend. The following morning, he will preach at the 9:30 Liturgy at Saint Joseph’s, after which he will meet informally with area college students and young adults.

Father John will preach at Triumph of Orthodoxy Vespers, hosted by the Orthodox Christian Clergy Association of Greater Chicago [OCCA], at Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church, Cicero, IL, on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.

On Monday and Tuesday, March 14-15, Father John will conduct the OCCA’s annual clergy retreat at New Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Monastery, Third Lake, IL.

Archpriest Chad Hatfield, Chancellor of Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, with the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit, will conduct a public retreat at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, Syracuse, NY, titled “Mary, Mysteries, and Mission,” and preach at Sunday of Orthodox Vespers that evening at the same church.
