Services for newly departed choir director Resa Ellison announced

The Funeral Service for the newly departed Resa Ellison, 31, choir director at Saint Mary Cathedral here, will be celebrated at the cathedral, 1701 Fifth Street NE, Minneapolis, on Thursday, January 7, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. An all-night Vigil with Scripture readings will begin at the conclusion of the Funeral Service.

The Divine Liturgy and Parastas will be celebrated at the cathedral on Friday, January 8, at 9:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow.

An additional visitation will be begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, at Saint Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 312 West Elm Street, Urbana, IL, where Resa’s father, Archpriest James Ellison, serves as rector. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Bailey Cemetery, Tolono, IL, on Monday, January 11, at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow at Saint Nicholas Church.

As reported on the OCA web site at www.oca.org/news/2045, Resa fell alseep in the Lord on Sunday, January 3, after a two-month battle with ARDS, a complication of H1N1, Influenza A, and Pneumonia.

In addition to her father and mother Linda, Resa is survived by siblings Rachel (Clark) Leake, Sallie (James) LaRocco, Suzanna and Mary Ellison; aspiring fiancé, Peter Rhudy; nieces and nephews Cody, Sofia and Giada LaRocco and Matea Cunningham; aunts and uncles Mark (Barbara) Thomas, Melodie (William) Janes, and Mary (Joseph) Bensman; three godchildren; and many other relatives and dear friends.

Memorials may be directed to Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage in Guatemala via Saint Mary Cathedral or Saint Nicholas Church.
