St. Tikhon’s Monastery brotherhood set to welcome faithful at Memorial Day weekend Pilgrimage

The brotherhood of Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery is set to welcome faithful to their annual pilgrimage here over Memorial Day weekend.

A comprehensive schedule is available in PDF format at www.sttikhonsmonastery.org/files/Pilgrimage-Schedule-2010-RIGHT.pdf.

The pilgrimage opens on Friday, May 28 at 3:30 p.m. with a blessing of the well and the celebration of Vespers and Matins in the Monastery Church. Dinner will follow in the monastery dining hall to which pilgrims are invited.

The Miraculous Myrrhstreaming Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, to which many cures from cancer, blindness, and other illnesses have been ascribed, will arrive at the monastery on Saturday morning, May 29, at approximately
11:00 a.m. The icon will be available for veneration throughout the pilgrimage.

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah will preside at the main pilgrimage Divine liturgy on Monday, May 31, at 10:00 a.m. Throughout the day, various foods and religious items will be available for purchase.

All Orthodox Christian singers are invited to join the choir that will sing the responses at Monday’s Liturgy. According to Father Sergius, Abbot, a special rehearsal, at which all who wish to sing must attend, will be at 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning in the Pavilion.

Father Sergius also noted that, due to road work, a potential detour exists for those traveling from Hamlin (from I-84) to the Monastery. It is recommended that pilgrims take the Cobb Mountain Exit.

The pilgrimage is open to the general public.
