“Women Disciples of the Lord” theme of SVOTS conference June 17-19

Saint Vladimir’s Seminary here will host a summer conference titled “Women Disciples of the Lord” June 17-19, 2011.

Through talks, panels, and a wide array of workshops, participants will explore and articulate the Christ-centered context out of which lay, and especially women’s, ministries are to be expressed.

Archpriest John Behr, seminary Dean, will offer a free and public lecture, “Male and Female Created He Them,” on Friday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m. A reception will follow. Other speakers include Matushka Juliana Schmemann, “The Joy to Serve,” by video; Presvytera Dr. Kyriaki Karidoyanes FitzGerald, “Eve, Mary, and Us;” Dr. Mary Ford, “Light from the Past on Vocations Today;” Khouria Frederica Mathewes-Green, “Confessions of a Free-lance Writer: Discerning God’s Will in an Unpredictable Vocation;” and Ms. Eleana Silk, “Orthodox Women in America: A Recent History.”
