Bishop Melchisedek recovering after surgery

His Grace, Bishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, the Acting Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, underwent hernia surgery at Glen Cove Hospital on Monday morning, August 15, 2011.

He had been admitted to the hospital after being rushed to the emergency room on the evening of Thursday, August 11, according to Archpriest Eric G. Tosi, OCA Secretary.

Bishop Melchisedek will remain in Glen Cove Hospital until his doctors permit him to travel, at which point he will return to Pittsburgh.  It is anticipated that his travel schedule will be curtailed until he has fully recovered.

Please continue to remember Bishop Melchisedek in prayer.
