His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon to preside at the 51st Annual Saint Herman Pilgrimage in Alaska

On Sunday and Monday, August 8 and 9, His Grace Bishop Alexis of Bethesda, Locum Tenens of Sitka and Alaska, will welcome His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, and His Grace Bishop Daniel of Santa Rosa to the Diocese of Alaska for the 51st Annual Saint Herman Pilgrimage. The pilgrimage will begin with the celebration of the Hierarchical Liturgy on Sunday, August 8 at Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Kodiak. On Monday, August 9, His Beatitude will preside at the Hierarchical Liturgy at the Saints Sergius and Herman of Valaam Chapel on Spruce Island.

Prior to the beginning of the pilgrimage, on Saturday, August 7, His Beatitude will also preside at the special Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of Sitka and Alaska to be convened for the purpose of nominating a candidate as Diocesan Bishop in accordance to Article VIII, section 7 of the Statute of the Orthodox Church in America.

Priest Alessandro Margheritino, Secretary of the Orthodox Church in America, will travel with His Beatitude to Alaska from the Chancery.
