During a special session held via teleconference on Tuesday, June 17, the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America confirmed His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon’s nomination of Priest David Bozeman as Secretary of the Orthodox Church in America.

Father David’s appointment was made in accordance with Article VI, Section 2 of the Statute of the Orthodox Church in America. His nomination was endorsed by the Metropolitan Council during a special session earlier the same day.  He succeeds Archpriest Alessandro Margheritino, who was recently appointed Chancellor.

Fr. David brings to the role of Secretary pastoral experience and a diverse professional background. A graduate of St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (M.Div., magna cum laude), he has served as the founding priest of St. Nektarios Mission in Texas and is currently the priest-in-charge of St. John of Damascus Orthodox Church in Tyler, TX. As Dean of the Southcentral Deanery of the Diocese of the South, Fr. David has demonstrated pastoral leadership and administrative ability. His broad experience in ministry, combined with prior work in administration, finances, and communications, positions him well to contribute positively to the work of the Chancery and to the life of the Church.

Fr. David is expected to officially begin his tenure as Secretary at the end of the summer.
