Metropolitan Tikhon remembers Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann on the 40th Anniversary of his repose

Following the hierarchical Divine Liturgy celebrated at St. Tikhon’s Monastery Church on Wednesday, December 13, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon celebrated a Memorial Service for the ever-memorable Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann on the 40th anniversary of his repose. Just before noon, family members, seminarians, and visitors gathered at the grave of Fr. Alexander in the monastery cemetery where His Beatitude served the Panikhida. Responses were sung by the seminary choir under the direction of Paul Kappanadze.

Following the singing of Memory Eternal for Protopresbyter Alexander and Matushka Juliana, Metropolitan Tikhon addressed those gathered, offering thanks for Fr. Alexander’s life, his example, his teachings, and his legacy.
