Statement on the falling asleep in the Lord of His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman
With the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, Archpriest Alexander Rentel, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, made the following statement:
This morning, Tuesday, September 6, His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman, former Archbishop of Washington and Metropolitan of All America and Canada, fell asleep in the Lord. The Holy Synod of Bishops directs that a panikhida be served for him as soon as possible in all Churches and Chapels of the Orthodox Church in America, and on the fortieth day of his repose, October 15.
