With the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, the Office of the Chancellor is announcing the publication of the newly updated A Commemorative List of the Departed Servants of Orthodoxy in North America: Diptychs of Those Who Have Fallen Asleep in the Lord.

This 2025 edition contains a revised and expanded list of departed clergy, monastics, and laity who have labored for the Orthodox Church in America, from the Alaskan mission to the present day. The Diptychs are now available for download as a PDF and printed copies will be distributed to all parishes, monasteries, and institutions of the Orthodox Church in America through their Diocesan offices.

The new edition contains an introductory letter by His Beatitude, who reflects on the Church’s calling to pray for those who have preceded us in the faith. He writes that prayer for the departed is an expression of “love, of care for another’s well-being and salvation,” noting that Christian love “extends beyond our family and friends… [and] ultimately encompasses the entire Church, even embracing the entire world.”

This revision reflects updates and additions received through September 30, 2025. Clergy and faithful are invited to submit corrections or additions by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). An updated edition is planned for publication every five years.

The Orthodox Church in America encourages the clergy and faithful to make use of the Diptychs both during liturgical commemorations and in private prayer.

May the memory of all the faithful Orthodox Christians who have labored in North America be eternal!
