International Orthodox Theological Association to Hold Next Conference in Volos, Greece

The International Orthodox Theological Association (IOTA) has announced that its next conference will be held January 10 - 15, 2023 in Volos, Greece.  Calls for Papers have been shared to nearly 400 scholars from around the Orthodox world. IOTA’s inaugural conference was in 2019 in Iasi, Romania.

The coming conference will take the Orthodox Church’s global mission as its theme. The keynote address will be from His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrosios (Zographos) of Korea. There are 27 study groups planned treating the theme from a variety of disciplines including ecclesiology, science, canon law, and international relations, amongst others. There will also be 4 plenary sessions: The Church and the pandemic; Pan-Orthodox Unity; War and Peace; and on the document “For the Life of the World” from the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
