Parish Background

A new community assembled in Chicago and celebrated its first service on August 16, 1997. After 14 months of renovations to its acquired building, Christ the Savior Parish was officially opened as a temple for Orthodox Worship in the heart of downtown Chicago. Our parish family is made up of people from a wide variety of backgrounds, all coming together for the sole purpose of glorifying God within the Chicago area. We delight in exercising hospitality towards all who enter our doors -whether they’re stopping in during a weekend trip to Chicago, rediscovering the faith after many long years, or learning about Jesus Christ and the Orthodox Church for the very first time. Many visitors note the prayerful and warm atmosphere found here at Christ the Savior and among our parish family.
