Parish Background

In June, 1985, a group of Orthodox Christians associated with the WPAFB Orthodox Chaplaincy met with Bishop Boris for the purpose of establishing a mission in Dayton, OH. In June, 1986, Fr Ted Bobosh was assigned first rector of the mission.

Since that time, the parish has grown from its original 18 members to 170 members including almost 60 children. In 1990 the community purchased its first building, which was sold in April, 2001, as the parish had outgrown the facility.  In 1999, the parish celebrated the Planting of the Cross on its new property at 4451 Wagner Rd in Sugarcreek Twp. The new facility which includes a sanctuary with a built-in adult baptistery, a church hall, offices and classrooms opened in August 2001.
