Parish Background

In December 2022, St. Matthew Orthodox Church in Green Bay began an outreach effort to offer services in a large rural region of central Wisconsin,  focusing on the cities of Stevens Point and Waupaca, which have no Orthodox community within at least 60 miles. In December 2023, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel established it as “The Chapel of Saint Macrina the Younger, Waupaca, WI” as a dependency of Saint Matthew Church in Green Bay.

The chapel met for three years at a private home south of Waupaca. Beginning in January 2026, the chapel is now meeting at a rented conference room in downtown Waupaca.
