Martyr Epicharis of Rome

The Holy Martyr Epikharis (Epίkharis) lived in Rome during the reign of Diocletian (284-305). She was arrested by the prefect Caesarius because she was a Christian and courageously confessed Christ. Therefore, she was subjected to torture: she was suspended and her body was raked with iron hooks, and then they beat her with tin threshing rakes. The Holy Martyr prayed, and an Angel of the Lord struck down her torturers. Finally, Saint Epίkharis was beheaded.
