Glorification of Saint Tikhon, Apostle to America

Troparion — Tone 1

Chosen by God in a turbulent time, / You glorified God in complete holiness; / And attained greatness through humility / You showed forth the power of God through simplicity and piety; / You laid down your life for the Church and her people, / O Holy Confessor and Patriarch, Father Tikhon, / Pray to Christ God to Whom you were also crucified / That He may save our souls.

Kontakion — Tone 2

A gentle manner adorned You / You showed kindness and compassion to those who repented / You were firm and unbending in confessing the Orthodox Faith / And zealous in loving the Lord / O Holy Hierarch of Christ and Confessor Tikhon / Pray for us that we may not be separated from the love of God / Which is of Christ Jesus, our King and Lord.

Apostle James, son of Alphaeus

Troparion — Tone 3

Holy Apostle James, / entreat the merciful God / to grant our souls forgiveness of transgressions.

Kontakion — Tone 2

Let us bless James, praising him as the messenger of God, / for he filled the souls of the pious with wise dogmas. / Standing at the throne of glory before the Master, / he rejoices with all the angels unceasingly praying for us all.

“Assuage My Sorrows” Icon of the Mother of God

Troparion — Tone 5

Assuage the sickness of my much-sighing soul, / you who wipe away every tear from the face of the earth: / for you drive away the sicknesses of mankind, / and destroy the despondency of sinners. / Through you, Most Holy Virgin Mother, / we all acquire hope and the confirmation of faith.

Kontakion — Tone 6

Do not entrust me to human protection, Most Holy Sovereign Lady, / but accept the prayers of your servant, / for I am fettered by sorrow, and I cannot endure the arrows fired by demons; / I have no shelter and there is nowhere to run. / I am wretched and my enemies are on every side, and I have no consolation except you, / O Sovereign Lady of the world, the hope and protection of the faithful. / Do not despise my prayers, / but do that which is beneficial for me.
