Matushka Elizabeth Petorak, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on August 1, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on April 10, 1934, Elizabeth was the cornerstone of her family and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and an abundance of love.
After her marriage to the late Archpriest Vladimir Petorak, Matushka Elizabeth served lovingly alongside her husband at Holy Trinity Church in Niagara Falls and Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Wilkes-Barre. She also shared her beautiful voice in their church choirs.
Elizabeth’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her four children: Paula (Victor), Greg (Gail), MaryEllen (Bob), and Vlad (Maria). She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Jessica (Kyle), Nicole (John), Chris (Andreea), Cristina, Nicholas (Becca), Lara (Johnny), Greg (Brittany), Rebecca (Ryan), and David (Kim), as well as fifteen great-grandchildren.
Beyond her role as a loving mother and grandmother, Elizabeth was a woman of many talents and passions. She possessed a gift for baking. During the holidays she made sure to always bake enough so that every family member could enjoy them.
She also had a distinguished career as a registered nurse, graduating at the top of her nursing school class while raising her four young children. She touched countless lives with her compassionate care. She would do anything for anyone in need. Her kindness, strength, and love will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on through the countless hearts she touched.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the exceptional staff at Star Hill for their outstanding care.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11, at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 401 East Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Interment will be private.
Visitation for friends and relatives will be at 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Church or Star Hill Personal Care Home. Arrangements by Yeosock Funeral Home, Plains.
May Matushka Elizabeth’s memory be eternal!
