Matushka Lovey Ropitsky fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday morning, June 12, 2022 at her residence.

Born in Olyphant, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Truhan Horhutz. She was a graduate of Olyphant High School.

Lovey was a devout member of the Orthodox Church; she assisted her husband, Archpriest Paul Ropitsky, with services and helped prepare the church for worship. She was involved in many church activities. She sang in the choir and helped with making pierogies and other specialties for the church festivals; they supported the local organizations in the communities they served.

She loved her family, took pride in taking care of her home and enjoyed cooking, baking and decorating for the holidays, making it a warm and happy place.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers.

Matushka Lovey is survived by her husband, Archpriest Paul Ropitsky, and son, Michael Ropitsky, Frackville; a niece and several nephews.

Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville, has charge of funeral arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM. Friday at Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church, Coaldale, PA with the Archpriest James Weremedic as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening with Parastas at Saint Mary Orthodox Church, Coaldale. Interment will be in All Saints Orthodox Cemetery, Peckville, PA. All are asked to follow CDC guidelines with wearing masks and following social distancing when attending visitation and religious services.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Matushka Lovey’s name can be made to Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church, 217 First St., Coaldale, PA 18218.
