Matushka Olga Kapral, 92, wife of the late Archpriest Michael Kapral, fell asleep in the Lord here after a brief illness on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on December 16, 1924, she was the daughter of Maxim and Susanna [Zubal] Grabko.  She and Father Michael, who fell asleep in the Lord in 1979, had faithfully served parishes in Lykens, PA; Lynn, MA; Bethlehem, PA; Warren, OH and Newark, NJ.  Matushka Olga was very active in parish life, teaching Sunday School and directing the choir.

Matushka Olga earned a Bachelor Degree from Kent State University and Masters Degree from the University of Dayton, OH.  She was an elementary school teacher for many years in the Warren, OH School District.  She was active in the Urban League and NAACP, played the violin in the orchestra at Hiram College and enjoyed painting.  Upon her retirement, she enjoyed her farm, raising and showing horses.  In later life she moved to Drums, PA to be closer to her family and remained in her home until her passing.  She was an avid opera fan and member of the Mozart Club.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Grabko and William Grabko, and by her sister, Dolores Grabko.  She is survived by her sons Sergei [Victoria] Kapral, Plains, PA and Michael [Danetha] Kapral, Manakin Sabot, VA; her grandchildren Sergei Kapral of Lancaster, PA, Lauren [Todd] Forgette and daughter Ekatarina, Goldsboro, NC, and Alexander [Hayley] Kapral, Wyoming; and her sister Laverne Perotto, Collegeville.

Visitation will be held at the Yeosock Funeral Home, Plains, PA from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9.  Funeral services will be held at Holy Resurrection Cathedral, Wilkes-Barre, PA at 10:00 a.m on Saturday, June 10.  Archpriest Timothy Cremeens will officiate.  A Panikhida and interment will follow at Saint Tikhon’s Monastery Cemetery, South Canaan, PA.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Matushka Olga’s memory to Blue Chip Farms, Saint Tikhon’s Monastery or the charity of the donor’s choice.
