Preoteasa Maria Parau, the beloved wife of Protopresbyter Vasile Parau of Holy Cross Parish, San Diego, CA, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, July 25, 2021, as a result of declining health in recent years.
Preoteasa Maria Parau was born on Pascha Day, April 9, 1950, in the village of Recea Mare, county of Salaj, Romania. Following her early education in Semileu Silvaniei, she studied accounting in Alba-Iulia and held a job as an accountant in various firms in the area. In December 1995, she joined her husband in the United States and dedicated her life to raising their family. In the United States, she worked in hotel hospitality and at the same time dedicated her time working alongside her husband in the parishes where Fr Vasile served: Las Vegas, NV; Phoenix, AZ; Palm Springs, CA, and for the last 8 years in San Diego, CA.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years (married on August 23, 1970) Rev Father Vasile Parau, and their two sons, Ovidiu Marius Parau, wife Lacrima and children David and Samuel (Phoenix, AZ) and Basil Parau, wife Maricela and children Alexandra Sofia and Ariana Maria (Tucson, AZ).
The funeral service will take place at 10:00 AM on August 12, 2021 at Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church in San Diego, CA.
